Security and Privacy

Being a decentralized application means that your data is divided and distributed across multiple sites. This eliminates the risk of a single point of failure hack, as all messages are sent through different jump stations, never through one. This added layer of security ensures that your data is always protected and that you have peace of mind when using our messaging app.

What does it mean for Hidy to be anonymous?

Being anonymous means that Hidy does not require any personal information or phone number to use the app. This ensures that your identity remains private and untraceable, giving you added security and protection while using the app to communicate with others.

Why is anonymity important in the context of Hidy?

Anonymity is crucial in protecting personal information and giving users control over what they choose to share with others. By using Hidy, you don’t have to worry about your personal data being compromised. Additionally, anonymity acts as an added layer of security within the app, as even if someone manages to access our network, they will not be able to obtain any information about you. In short, anonymity ensures that you have full control over your personal information and provides added protection for your communications.

How does a decentralized messaging system work and how does it differ from a traditional messaging system?

In a traditional messaging system, messages are sent to a centralized server for processing and routing to the intended recipient. This process often involves data mining and analysis by the server. In contrast, a decentralized messaging system uses encryption to secure the message and routes it through multiple nodes before it reaches its final destination. This means that the data is protected during the entire transmission process and minimizes the risk of a single point of failure. Additionally, a decentralized messaging system allows for a more secure and private communication, as your messages are not routed through a centralized server that could be subject to hacking or surveillance.

How can I be certain that my messages are properly encrypted while using Hidy?

Hidy uses a robust encryption protocol to ensure that your messages are secure at all times. When you initiate a conversation, we provide you with a unique and randomly generated key that is not transmitted over the network. This key is used to encrypt your messages and only you have access to it. This means that even if someone were to intercept your network traffic, they would not be able to read the messages without the key. Additionally, our decentralized architecture ensures that your messages are routed through multiple nodes, adding an extra layer of security to the transmission process. With these measures in place, you can rest assured that your messages are properly encrypted and protected while using Hidy.

Who can contact me?

Every person with a account in Hidy can contact you by entering your username into the search field and starting a new chat/call/walkie-talkie session. If you don’t want to communicate with any user of the app, you can always block him so the person will not be able to contact you anymore.

Who can see me “online”?

Each person with whom you have ever communicated can see when you are “Online”. You can always switch it off in your private settings so that no one will be able to see when you’re using the app.

Will Hidy display ads in my private chats and groups or sell my personal data?

Absolutely not. Our mission is to protect our users’ information by utilizing decentralized and encrypted technology. Additionally, we ensure that your identity remains anonymous.
